The weather had been good all week and Kalajoki was in good shape.

One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.

Ice Border found a gap and took the lead. Jolly Thought followed before Postcard From Edmonton.

This is the positions after 500m. Nessuno Questione, Postcard From Edmonton, Slow Blues, Set The Limits, Jolly Thought, Ice Border, Sgt Pepper, Lairon. Postcard From Edmonton started to galop after 500 m and was nearly disqualified.

Postcard From Edmonton clinged on to the lead after a 1000m.

Lairon looked to be in good shape this day and took the lead after 1500m.

Lairon were still in the lead when they started the sprint for the finish-line.

Ice Border won. Lairon came in second. Postcard From Edmonton caught third place.
