The weather had been good all week and Visby was in good shape. One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track. Silver Cake could eventually take the lead after a very dramatic start. Ulf Ohlsson wanted a little to much in the start and Le Déroff galoped for 50 m. There were no mayor changes in the field at the 500m mark. Gaudini looked tired after 1000m but had to keep up the tempo so that Le Déroff couldn't come out from behind the leader, Silver Cake. Gaudini accelerated after 1500m and took the lead. Gaudini kept a high tempo and was first in on the homestretch. Silver Cake showed unexperience when he was disqualified for galoping. No-one could catch Gaudini today who won before Le Déroff and Ivory Beauty. Results
