One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.

Belmondo could eventually take the lead after a very dramatic start.

No one seem keen on putting pressure on the leader so he could keep his own tempo.

Funky Sunset accelerated after 1500m and took the lead. Ivory Beauty started to gallop after 1500m and Dion Tesselaar had to struggle to get it back in trotting.

Organ Grinder was first on the homestretch followed by Funky Sunset and Belmondo.

Organ Grinder kept the speed the whole finish and won before Funky Sunset and Belmondo.
