The weather had been good all week and Kalmar was in good shape.
One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.
Pegasus was looking particularly good and could easily take the lead.
The leader couldn't hold the lead and Carmen Dalia sprinted to the front.
Songer Ruine sprinted past the competitors and took over the lead.
Standings after 1500m . Lane one Songer Ruine followed by Pegasus and Dr Pepper Pride. Lane two Lord Sparrow followed by Falken and Felicia Tango.
Falken seemed to be in top-form this day and took over the lead.
Carmen Dalia showed unexperience when he was disqualified for galoping. Falken sat safely in the lead when they started the homestretch.
Songer Ruine won. Lord Sparrow came in second. Pegasus caught third place.
