The weather had been good all week and Vaasa was in good shape.

One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.

Sliding Gladiator took the lead after a very quick start.

Montagnac quickly put pressure on the leader and could take the lead after 500m.

Gonzo Hippo took the lead after 1000m. Ulysses Hof didn't have a good time being caught on the outside.

Standings after 1500m . Lane one Gonzo Hippo followed by Dead Sound and Montagnac. Lane two Ulysses Hof followed by Windt and Focused Asteroid. Sliding Gladiator started to gallop after 1500m and Kari Rosimo had to struggle to get it back in trotting.

Gonzo Hippo sat safely in the lead when they started the homestretch.

Windt won. Gonzo Hippo came in second. Ulysses Hof caught third place.
