Only a few clouds could be spotted on the sky this day. Axevalla track was in top-condition. One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track. Slippery Angel was looking particularly good and could easily take the lead. When the startcar left the field Divine Bart started to galop and lost 30 m. Fenix Crusader quickly put pressure on the leader and could take the lead after 500m. No one seem keen on putting pressure on the leader so he could keep his own tempo. Gonzo Jellybelly suddenly made a bad step, started to galop and lost 30 m.
