The sky was free of clouds and the sun was shining at Mariehamn this day.

One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.

Coonskin could eventually take the lead after a very dramatic start. wanted a little to much in the start and Unknown galoped for 10 m.

Rosier Êtes Rouge quickly put pressure on the leader and could take the lead after 500m.

The leader got disturbed by something and Coonskin took the lead rather easily. Unknown suddenly made a bad step, started to galop and lost 10 m.

Orabell looked to be in good shape this day and took the lead after 1500m.

Derry showed unexperience when he was disqualified for galoping. Derry was disturbed and galopped for 40 m. With only a little left of the race Derry galoped for 20 m. Orabell kept a high tempo and was first in on the homestretch.

No-one could catch Orabell today who won before Big Puma and Coonskin.
