The sky was free of clouds and the sun was shining at Umåker this day. One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track. Silver Pepper sprinted away from the competitors and took the lead. When the startcar left the field Criminal Judge started to galop and lost 20 m. The leader couldn't hold the lead and Birmingham Six sprinted to the front. En Plantet was disturbed and galoped 50 m.
