It had been raining for several days at Vaasa but the sun was shining this day a the track was in good shape.
One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.
Faraway could eventually take the lead after a very dramatic start.
The leader couldn't hold the lead and
Poincon Express sprinted to the front. A bird flew just in front of Unknown who started to galop and lost 10 m.
Great Gene sprinted past it's competitors after a 1000m and took the lead.
Poincon Express looked to be in good shape this day and took the lead after 1500m. Unknown started to gallop after 1500m and Unknown had to struggle to get it back in trotting.
Unknown galloped for 60m and was disqualified.
Poincon Express sat safely in the lead when they started the homestretch.
Faraway galopped for 30 m on the homestretch.
Faraway galopped for 40 m on the homestretch.
Faraway galopped for 40 m on the homestretch.
Faraway was disturbed and galopped for 30 m.
Great Gene sprinted away from the rest of the field and won quite easy.
