It had been raining for several days at Åby but the sun was shining this day a the track was in good shape. One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track. Sergeant Bear found a gap and took the lead. Puccini Hof followed before Speedy Giraff. Playing Red galloped for 60m and was disqualified. This is the positions after 500m. Ayacho, Light Inside, Sergeant Bear, Casper Slide, Falling Energy, Speedy Giraff, Lyijyinen Laulaja, Puccini Hof. Sergeant Bear took the lead after 1000m. Light Inside didn't have a good time being caught on the outside. Standings after 1500m . Lane one Sergeant Bear followed by Falling Energy and Puccini Hof. Lane two Light Inside followed by Speedy Giraff and Casper Slide. Sergeant Bear were still in the lead when they started the sprint for the finish-line. The spectators cheered much on the homestretch and probably caused Casper Slide galop. Casper Slide lost 50 m. Falling Energy sprinted over the finishline before Sergeant Bear and Light Inside.
